The glow of a pregnant woman's skin, and the curve of her belly, speak of many adventures yet to come. It is the most exhilarating time in a woman's life, and the excitement is contagious. The delicacy of an infant takes my breath away, and the smell of a newborn baby's head puts a smile on my face. The innocence of a child's eyes, stops me and my camera dead in our tracks. Playing games and bringing a smile to a child's face isn't work at all, it is truly a blessing. I was given a gift to share beauty with the world.

Sharon Hamilton
Sharon Hamilton, L.M., L.M.T., C.L.C., has delivered over 2,500 babies in the out-of-hospital setting, at home and in birth centers. Sharon received her initial training at the Santa Cruz Birth Center in California in 1975 and 76. When she moved to Florida in 1980, she worked with the Midwives Association of Florida to restore licensing for Direct Entry Midwives. Midwives were first licensed in Florida in 1931, but by the 1970s the State began to refuse to license midwives. In 1982, a new law was passed regarding requirements for education and training of midwives and standards for out-of-hospital birth. Sharon was admitted to and graduated from the South Florida School of Midwifery in Miami in 1986. Shortly after graduation she passed the State licensure examination and began practicing in the Tri-County area. She has carried a midwife license in good standing ever since.
